Meet Charlie

For Charlie Raine, real estate isn’t just a family business; it’s a family tradition. With a father who was in commercial real estate and a mother in residential, Charlie had no questions about what he wanted to do in life when he decided on a career change in his late 20s. Licensed since 1987, he’s been involved in residential sales since the beginning and has loved every minute of it.

Charlie was born in Los Angeles and grew up in the South Bay. He attended California State University, Long Beach and Michigan State University with plans to become a restaurateur. He worked in all aspects of the business and discovered that nothing compels organization more than waiting tables — juggling the needs of people and ensuring their satisfaction. A straight shooter, Charlie has learned to deal effectively with different personalities and uses his years of experience to give practical and topical advice. He represents first-time buyers as well as established, savvy business professionals, boosting his services with his personal real estate experience. Charlie and his wife have invested in residential and commercial properties for years, initially managing all aspects — including repairs. This has given him a solid grasp on what attributes matter in all types of dwellings and, equally important, knowing what to avoid.

A hyperlocal community enthusiast, Charlie currently lives just three houses from where he grew up. He’s been involved in competitive water sports since high school and is a longtime competitor in the U.S. Masters Swimming National Championships. He also spends 10 days each summer as a Los Angeles County ocean lifeguard. Charlie serves on the boards of his swim team, a local boutique hotel, and his city Traffic Commission. He is a former board member of the Peninsula Education Foundation. And yes, the real estate family tradition continues for Charlie: His daughter, Hanna Carlson, works for a nationally recognized broker in the residential sector.
